Wisecraft's great tutorial on how to cover notebooks with cloth was making the blog rounds a few weeks ago. I finally got around to buying double-sided fusible interfacing so I can do this project! Interfacing is used to make fabric stiffer, so it's used in collars and waist bands. Double-sided interfacing, as the name suggests, has a heat-activated glue on both sides of it. You just iron and you're done!

I had some plain Muji notebooks that David gave me...

The yellow gingham was cut up in such a way that there wasn't a cut that I could've used to wrap up the entire notebook, so I just cut the fabric to fit each cover.

Once I learn how to bookbind, I want to make fabric-covered notebooks for the store. I suppose I could always use notebooks like the Muji ones or the great, sturdy -- yet cheap -- journals I get at B&N. But I'd like to be able to change up the binding tape colors. Nothing Elegant has gorgeous fabric tapes. Or I suppose you can make your own fabric tape with strips of fabric and more double-sided fusible interfacing?
I dropped a bit of money for yard of Marimekko's Suma fabric a while back... Should I cut some off for notebooks?
Dear silent readers a question for you: Do you think this would be a good idea for the store? Let me know, before I go nuts and buy up all the cute/fun/amazing fabric that I've always lusted after, but never had a *real* reason to buy.
